Do you ever take a moment to consider what impact you have on the life around you? So often we downplay what we do and can do. We look for big, dramatic results, and it may be difficult to notice those in our own lives.
However, we are constantly creating an impression on the world around us. We then receive feedback and that feedback determines our next step.
Here is one example: Sitting quietly and just focusing on your breathing will bring stillness into your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual space. In that stillness you may find more peace. When you are at peace, you may have more patience with others. You may take more time to listen and to make decisions that are in alignment with what feels good for yourself. You may smile more and let go of being attached to a particular outcome or needing to be right. As a result, you will appear more approachable to others and they will want to spend more time with you. This in turn feels good and reinforces that sitting quietly is working. So you might do more of it and on it goes, creating this energetically upward moving, positively reinforcing, spiral.
In contrast, when you are busy and overwhelmed, you may feel pressure to act quickly, without thinking, and you may be short with others. You may forget to eat well and drink enough water. You may not listen properly to what others share and be preoccupied with getting your point across and needing to be right. People notice your distraction and will not seek you out. You may easily interpret this behavior as rejection, which can increase your stress levels and put you into an energetically downward moving, negatively reinforcing, spiral.
So, no matter what you do, however small and insignificant it seems at the time, it is either moving you into “ This is good, I want more of that” or “ I don’t like this, I want less of that” situation. This is the beauty of living in duality. Everything you do impacts everything around you.
You have a choice: What impact do you want to create? What do you need to be aware of? What kind of world do you want to create and how do you want to be remembered by others?
Your answers to these questions will inform you how to interact with everyone and everything. How do you touch something or someone? What do you listen to or for? What do you feed your body? What music and programs to you listen to and watch?
How do you cultivate yourself, so that you can have the impact you want on the world?
Go, check your footprint: it is unique and I invite you to make it beautiful and inspiring to everyone and everything as well!
